Depths of Temptation

When I work on paintings I usually come up with a little story in my head to help figure out why/what the characters are doing in the painting. I usually keep that to myself but for this one I thought I would do a little write up on it to help show what my mindset was while I was painting it.

“Sailors have warned for centuries to avoid the sirens along the rocky coast. Their beauty is said to be legendary, though few who have seen them have lived to tell the tale.

Whether it is by coincidence or caused by the sirens themselves, the area around those waters is a graveyard of sunken ships. Some claim these sea creatures feast on the souls of fallen sailors. Sailors are notoriously a superstitious and untrustworthy lot, though I do advise to avoid the sirens at all costs.”
