Searching for Peace
First piece of 2021, I really tried to push my material and overall rendering. This was one of the most ambitious and difficult paintings I have ever done. As someone who loves to paint dragons, but hates painting individual scales, this was quite a challenging piece for me.

unsatisfied, I made some big changes to the pose and design to flow with the piece better
my first attempt at the scales, I tried to draw in each individual scale after making a guide
after that didnt work I found this scale pattern brush and began stamping it and warping it around the dragon
the scale pattern transformed and warped to fit the shape of the dragon
painted on top of the scales so they look and feel painted as opposed to a photo texture
